1. Policy Statement

Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Unisa Kuningan, published by Universitas Islam Al-Ihya Kuningan, Indonesia, encourages constructive scholarly discussion and critical engagement with articles published in the journal.

Post-publication discussion provides an opportunity for readers, researchers, community service practitioners, and other stakeholders to comment on published work, clarify findings, identify limitations, and contribute additional perspectives that may improve understanding of community service and community empowerment activities.

The journal supports respectful, evidence-based, and academically relevant discussion to promote transparency, knowledge exchange, and the continuous improvement of scholarly communication.

2. Scope of Post-Publication Discussion

Post-publication discussions may address the following matters:

  1. Scientific and Academic Contributions: Comments on the originality, relevance, theoretical contribution, or practical significance of a published article.

  2. Methodological Considerations: Questions or observations concerning the methods, implementation procedures, evaluation approaches, or interpretation of results.

  3. Community Service Outcomes: Constructive discussion of reported outputs, outcomes, impacts, limitations, and lessons learned from community engagement activities.

  4. Interpretation and Application: Alternative interpretations, recommendations, or practical implications of the published findings.

  5. Clarification of Published Information: Requests for clarification concerning statements, data, figures, references, or other information presented in an article.

  6. Research Integrity Concerns: Evidence-based concerns regarding possible errors, inaccurate reporting, ethical issues, or other matters that may affect the reliability of the published record.

Comments should be relevant to the published article and contribute meaningfully to academic discussion.

3. Submission of Post-Publication Comments

Readers who wish to submit comments or scholarly responses concerning a published article may contact the editorial office through the journal's official contact channels.

Submissions should include:

  • The title and DOI or URL of the article being discussed, where available.

  • The name and institutional affiliation of the commenter, where applicable.

  • A clear explanation of the issue, argument, or observation being raised.

  • Supporting evidence, references, or other relevant documentation.

  • The commenter's contact information for editorial communication.

The journal may request additional information when necessary to assess the relevance and accuracy of the submission.

At present, post-publication comments should be submitted directly to the editorial office unless a dedicated commenting or discussion feature is available on the journal's website.

4. Editorial Assessment

All submitted comments are subject to editorial assessment before any decision is made regarding publication or further action.

The editorial team will consider:

  1. The relevance of the comment to the published article.

  2. The clarity and academic quality of the argument.

  3. The adequacy of supporting evidence and references.

  4. The potential contribution to scholarly understanding.

  5. Compliance with academic integrity, publication ethics, and respectful communication standards.

The journal may reject comments that are irrelevant, unsupported, defamatory, promotional, abusive, or inconsistent with its publication policies.

Where appropriate, the editorial team may consult the original authors or independent experts before determining the appropriate response.

5. Author Responses

When a post-publication comment raises substantive questions about a published article, the editorial team may invite the original author or authors to provide a response.

Authors should respond professionally, address the issues raised, and provide relevant evidence or clarification where necessary.

The journal may consider publishing both the comment and the author's response when doing so would contribute meaningfully to academic discussion and maintain a balanced scholarly record.

The publication of a comment or response does not automatically imply that the original article is incorrect or that the concerns raised have been substantiated.

6. Publication and Accessibility of Discussions

Accepted post-publication comments and author responses may be published as separate contributions, linked to the original article, or made available through another appropriate channel selected by the editorial team.

Where applicable, published discussions should identify the article under consideration and include its DOI or permanent URL to facilitate access and citation.

The journal will make reasonable efforts to ensure that published discussions remain accessible to readers and are clearly distinguished from the original research or community service article.

The availability and format of post-publication discussions depend on the journal's publishing platform and editorial procedures.

7. Research Integrity and Corrections

If a post-publication comment identifies a credible concern about the accuracy, reliability, or ethical integrity of a published article, the editorial team will assess the matter in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics, Allegations of Research Misconduct, and Correction and Retraction policies.

Depending on the circumstances and available evidence, the journal may:

  1. Request clarification or additional information from the authors.

  2. Publish a correction or clarification when appropriate.

  3. Invite a formal response from the authors.

  4. Publish an expression of concern when significant issues remain unresolved and readers need to be informed.

  5. Consider retraction when the evidence and applicable publication ethics standards justify that action.

All decisions will be made carefully and proportionately, with the aim of maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.

8. Ethical Standards for Discussion

All participants in post-publication discussions must maintain professional conduct and respect the principles of academic integrity.

Comments must not contain personal attacks, discriminatory language, harassment, confidential personal information, or unsupported allegations presented as established facts.

Concerns about potential research misconduct should be communicated with sufficient supporting evidence and handled through the journal's established procedures.

The journal reserves the right to decline or discontinue discussions that violate these standards.

9. Confidentiality and Conflicts of Interest

Individuals submitting comments or responses must disclose relevant conflicts of interest that could influence their statements or interpretations.

The journal will handle personal information and confidential correspondence in accordance with its Privacy Statement and applicable requirements.

The editorial team will take reasonable measures to ensure that discussions are assessed fairly and that relevant conflicts of interest are appropriately managed.

10. Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure consistency with the journal's editorial practices, publication ethics standards, and available publishing technology.
