Authorship Criteria

Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Unisa Kuningan

1. General Principles of Authorship

Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Unisa Kuningan recognizes authorship as an important academic responsibility that reflects a substantial intellectual and practical contribution to the reported community service activities and the preparation of the manuscript.

Authorship is granted only to individuals who have made meaningful contributions to the conception, planning, implementation, evaluation, analysis, or reporting of the community service activities described in the manuscript. All listed authors must be able to take responsibility for their contributions and participate in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the published work.

The journal encourages authors to follow internationally recognized principles of responsible authorship and publication ethics.

2. Criteria for Authorship

To qualify as an author, an individual must meet the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contribution: Make a significant contribution to the conception or design of the community service program, the implementation of activities, data collection, analysis and evaluation, or the interpretation of results.

  2. Manuscript Preparation: Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it to improve its intellectual and academic content.

  3. Final Approval: Review and approve the final version of the manuscript before submission or publication.

  4. Accountability: Agree to be accountable for their own contributions and cooperate in addressing questions concerning the accuracy, integrity, or ethical conduct of the work.

Individuals listed as authors should satisfy all the applicable criteria above. These principles are intended to ensure that authorship accurately reflects each individual's contribution to the scholarly work.

3. Contributions That Do Not Independently Qualify for Authorship

The following contributions do not, by themselves, qualify an individual for authorship:

  • Providing financial or administrative support without a substantial intellectual contribution.

  • Providing facilities, equipment, or access to a community or institution without participating meaningfully in the scholarly work.

  • Offering general supervision without contributing substantially to the conception, implementation, evaluation, or reporting of the activities.

  • Providing technical assistance, language editing, or proofreading without contributing to the intellectual content of the manuscript.

Individuals who have contributed to the work but do not meet the authorship criteria may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section, with their permission where appropriate.

4. First Author and Corresponding Author

The first author should be the individual who has made the principal contribution to the scholarly work and manuscript, as agreed upon by all authors.

The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the editorial office throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes. The corresponding author must ensure that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript, that the author list is accurate, and that all required declarations and supporting documents are provided.

The corresponding author is also responsible for communicating editorial decisions and relevant publication information to the other authors.

5. Author Order and Changes in Authorship

The order of authors must be determined by mutual agreement among all authors based on their respective contributions. The journal does not impose a single author-order convention, provided that the arrangement is transparent and agreed upon by the contributors.

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must be accompanied by a written explanation and approval from all affected authors. The journal may request written confirmation from all authors before considering the change.

Changes in authorship after acceptance or publication will be considered only in accordance with the journal's editorial procedures and applicable publication ethics principles.

6. Acknowledgments

Individuals or institutions that have provided assistance but do not meet the authorship criteria may be acknowledged in the manuscript. Such contributions may include technical assistance, administrative support, language editing, or other relevant support.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission from individuals named in the Acknowledgments section, where appropriate, and for accurately describing their contributions.

7. Ethical Responsibility of Authors

All authors are responsible for ensuring that the manuscript presents an accurate and honest account of the community service activities and their outcomes. Authors must avoid honorary authorship, guest authorship, ghost authorship, and any other practice that misrepresents individual contributions.

Authors must disclose relevant conflicts of interest, acknowledge funding sources, cite sources appropriately, and ensure that the rights, dignity, safety, and privacy of community members and other participants are respected.

Any research involving human participants, personal data, or other ethically sensitive activities must comply with applicable ethical standards and institutional requirements.

8. Declaration of Author Contributions

The journal encourages authors to provide a statement describing the individual contributions of each author. Where appropriate, the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) may be used to identify roles such as conceptualization, methodology, investigation, data curation, formal analysis, writing, review and editing, project administration, and supervision.

The contribution statement should accurately reflect the work performed by each author and must be approved by all authors.

9. Editorial Authority

The editorial team reserves the right to request clarification regarding authorship, author contributions, or changes to the author list when necessary. Suspected authorship violations will be handled in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics policy.

The journal may suspend editorial processing while an authorship dispute is being investigated. Where appropriate, the journal may request clarification from the authors' affiliated institutions or other relevant parties.

10. Compliance

By submitting a manuscript to Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Unisa Kuningan, the corresponding author confirms that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria, have approved the manuscript, and agree to its submission for editorial consideration.

All authors are expected to uphold academic integrity, transparency, and responsible publication practices throughout the submission and publication process.
