This study aims to analyze the effect of Silicon dioxide (SiO2) on the quality of industrial salt of PT. XYZ. Research was conducted to overcome the problem of salt clumping caused by its hygroscopic properties. The research method used was the Complete Random Design (RAL) experimental method with 5 treatments, namely T0, T1, T2, T3, and T4. The parameters of salt quality tested included moisture content, NaCl levels, and hygroscopicity rates. The results of the analysis of the moisture content of industrial salt with added Silicon dioxide (SiO2) showed a difference. The average brine content was between 0.19±0.061 and 0.26±0.042, with the lowest moisture content at a concentration of 1% SiO2. The NaCl content of industrial salts in all treatments has a fixed value of ± 97%, indicating that silicon dioxide does not significantly affect NaCl levels. The results of the hygroscicity rate measurement showed a significant decrease in the mean value (hygrocicity rate) along with the increase in the concentration of SiO2 addition from 0% to 1%. The best hygroscopicity rate was found in salt with the addition of 1% SiO2 which shows the effectiveness of silicon dioxide in preventing clumping.
